Opportunity Description: Purpose of Request for Proposal
Alberta Distance Learning Centre is seeking proposals from interested vendors to provide development services and management support for our customized Moodle environment. This includes the core Moodle install (currently 3.1), 16 custom themes, integration with our Student Information System (S.I.S.) and various locally developed plugins. The successful vendor, under the direction of the Coordinator of Information Technology, will be supporting the ADLC Learning Management System team. This agreement will begin as soon possible and will conclude on February 28, 2020. The agreement will be awarded on the basis of an initial interview and completed reference checks. Submissions should include company history, specific expertise and portfolio, and a Statement of Work including project description, scope, deliverables, timeline, and cost quote.
ADLC is the premier distance learning partner for primary and secondary education in Alberta. Since 1923, ADLC has worked with students, teachers, and administrators to provide distance education at any time, any place, and any pace. Operated by Pembina Hills Regional Division No. 7, under a service agreement with Alberta Education, ADLC offers print and online educational opportunities to students in Grades 1-12 and adult learners.
Expectations of Service:
-Provide additional support to the in-house LMS development and support team
-Create/update plugins for large projects
-Supply copies of all code fixes that pertain to ADLC intellectual property
-Assist in upgrades to newer versions of Moodle, including fixes to custom plugins
-Ability to develop plugins and fix existing custom plugins for the Atto editor
-Attend occasional meetings (in-person or virtually) as requested
-Work in tandem with the ADLC Learning Management System team and other contractors
Qualifications, Experience and Requirements:
-Five+ years of experience in the field
-Knowledge of industry standards
-Adherence to specific performance expectations
-Ability to work independently and off-site
-Adhere to ADLC confidentiality standards
-Strong communication skills across different modalities (i.e. telephone, email, Skype, Hangouts or other)
-Willingness to work as part of a team
-Use of own computer equipment
-Background and relevant experience and service options
-Pricing quote based on expectations of service
-List of three references with permission for ADLC to contact them.
